Maine petitions are governed under M.R.S.A. Title 30-A Section 2504 and M.R.S.A. Title 21-A Section 903-A. Municipal petitions generally come under M.R.S.A. Title 30-A.
Municipal elections for our public officials are governed under M.R.S.A. 30-A. In Raymond our elected officials are: Select Board, RSU #14 Board of Directors, and Budget-Finance Committee members. All other positions on boards or committees are appointed by the Select Board.
By law, Maine birth records less than 75 years old, marriage records less than 50 years old, death records less than 25 years old and fetal deaths less than 50 years old are considered to be private.
Certain classes of property are tax exempt by law.
